Merry Christmas activities in Avalon & Stone Harbor NJ

What are the best Christmas activities to do with family and friends? Come down to the shore and make sure your house is properly winterized and ready for the cold weather. One of the most important elements of proper winterizing for a seashore home is the outside shower. Here you can see a properly built shower provided by Augustine Builders "Seashore Modulars" homes.
As we can see in this photo the copper stubs can be easily drained via the boiler valves at the bottom of the photograph. This will allow for "hassle free" use of your outside shower next year when your family returns for Memorial day festivities! Some of the other top builders ( Brandywine Construction, Artisan Fine Custom Homes, D.L. Miner Construction, Mike Rennie, Zeigller & Rannelli, Mike Donahue, Tom Welsch) who build in the following areas: Ocean City NJ, Sea Isle City NJ, Longport NJ , North Wildwood NJ , Wildwood Crest NJ and Cape May NJ will use a built in shower valve that accomplishes more of a finished look. Either way it is always the owner's preference which system is prefered.
Christmas in Stone Harbor and Avalon is also a great time to talk to Augustine Builders "Seashore Modulars" about having a new custom modular home built for the coming summer 2011. The great thing about using a modular home product is that we still have time to create the design with William Haryslak and Associates and have the home built at Design Homes LLC. From there we have the house shipped from Bloomsburg PA and erected on site to our high quality workmanship standards. Have a look at our website at http://www.augustinebuilders.com/ and give me (Dave Augustine) a call to set up a appointment to discuss your particular project. Happy Holidays from Augustine Builders "Seashore Modulars"

Wind uplift in modular homes in Avalon, Stone Harbor, Wildwood, Sea Isle City & Ocean City NJ

Hello everyone reading this post! I just want to take this opportunity to talk about uplift with regards to high wind coastal construction methods. Uplift is the phenomenon created when wind blows around the outside walls as well as over the roof structure of a home. The wind creates lift such as a wind traveling over a airplane wing. This lift can tear shingles off a roof, pull sheathing from rafters and cause windows to fail within the side walls of the house. It is very important to have a properly designed home that will resist these forces of nature. Using Augustine Builders "Seashore Modulars" is one way to achieve the ultimate in high wind design parameters and still achieve very low construction cost savings. Our modular homes are designed by Avalon architect William Haryslak. Mr. Haryslak's knowledge far exceeds any other designers along the jersey shore with respect to high wind "Custom" modular homes. Many other builders in the area are doing fine job with these details as well. Some of the more popular builders from our area are: D.L. Miner Construction, Brandywine Developers Matt Papas, Artisan Fine Custom Homes, Zeigler Ranalli Developement Co., Gilbert & Sykes Builders, Michael Donahue Builders, Thomas Welsh Construction, Gannon Builders, Skip Holtzapfel Builders inc. Augustine Builders is your one stop source for all custom construction needs. We build custom stick homes, renovations and additions, Seashore Modular Homes. We also provide Andersen Window and Patio door services. We can replace or rebuild your existing Andersen products with our factory trained service people. We can also solve the most complicated window and siding leaks that plague many homes throughout the coastal area. visit our web site at http://www.augustinebuilders.com/ and have a look at our work. You will not be disappointed in our quality or our price. We can be reached at 609-926-6242 Thank you! Dave Augustine

Augustine Builders has been selected by Design Homes LLC as the largest territory Builder in the company's history

Augustine Builders is proud to announce they have been selected by Design Homes LLC of Bloomsburg PA to represent their custom home product line trademarked by Augustine Builders as "Seashore Modulars". After careful review and selection, the Builder / Architect team of Augustine Builders and William Haryslak were selected by Design Homes LLC to handle the largest exclusive territory of premiere coastal properties along the Southern New Jersey Shore. Design Homes Executive Director of Sales (Steve Gables) visited Avalon this past Summer with Regional sales director Timothy East to view first hand the products produced to date by Augustine Builders as well as the design architecture produced by William Haryslak. In the words of these gentlemen what they found was nothing short of "Magnificent" It was immediately clear to the executives of Design Homes that the design capabilities of Mr. Haryslak using modular technology parallels the most complex projects Design Homes LLC has successfully completed at other coastal projects requiring high wind design. Have a look at our video of a 7,500 sq.ft. high wind design seashore modular home built in Spring Lake NJ by Design Homes LLC.

After seeing the Architectural capabilities of Mr. Haryslak, the Design Homes executives focused on the houses throughout Avalon and Stone Harbor that Augustine Builders has built over the years. What they found was supreme workmanship and beautiful details everywhere they looked. In addition, the building science and technical background of David Augustine (State of NJ ICS Building Inspector) was a major advantage to Design Homes LLC in their quest to dominate such a large area of premiere coastal properties by having a builder handle their product line with advanced knowledge of local building codes, zoning and community ordiances.

The area now exclusively represented by the team of Augustine Builders "Seashore Modulars" and William Haryslak (Architect) includes: Cape May NJ, Wildwood NJ, North Wildwood NJ, Stone Harbor NJ, Avalon NJ, Sea Isle City NJ, Strathmere NJ, Ocean City NJ, Longport NJ, Margate NJ, Ventnor NJ, Atlantic City NJ, Brigatine NJ.

Visit Augustine Builders web site at http://www.augustinebuilders.com/ for further information about custom modular designs and building services in any of these communities.

Autum is a great time to build your new construction home in Avalon NJ or anywhere at the Jersey Shore

The end of the Summer was very fun for our family. We enjoyed a visit to the Magic Kingdom (Disney). Here is a picture of the 3 of us in front of Cinderella's castle.

Everything was going well until we went to Epcot and experienced the "Finding Nemo" attraction. Unfortunately I was swallowed by a shark. Luckily Brianne and Natalie were nereby and assisted by pulling me from his jaws. That was a close call!

The trip capped off with one builder saying "Goodbye" to another builder (Handy Manny).

Always enjoy the time God has blessed us with to spend with family and friends.

Getting back to work: I have just attended our opening meeting for the South Jersey Building Officials council. Our council meeting discussed a variety of building science topics along with budget concerns for the coming fiscal year facing the municipalities within Southern NJ. Topics of concern included how the various construction offices will be able to effectively serve their respective communities with the tightening of the State budget by Governor Chris Christie. On a more practical topic of concern during our meeting: Now that hurricane season is upon us, high wind construction protocol and framing inspection procedures will need to be carefully overseen to better promote quality building practices that will ensure safety as well as structural integrity to any buildings currently being erected in our jurisdiction. Our guest speaker was Richard Hawks of Superior Walls. Superior walls foundation walls are a pre-manufactured foundation wall system that utilize 5000 psi structural concrete within their fabrication. I have personally used Superior Walls on some of my past projects and do agree the product is by far the best system for creating a waterproof basement system for either modular homes or stick built custom homes. If anyone reading this Blog has any questions please feel free to call me at 609-926-6242 or visit our web site at: http://www.augustinebuilders.com/ and drop me a email. Our Seashore Modular Homes are a excellent solution to creating a beautiful custom home on a limited budget. Thanks for reading my posts! Dave Augustine

We have made it to August at the Jersey Shore!

The end of the summer is fast approaching and Augustine Builders is still having fun in Ocean City NJ. While driving over the 9th Street bridge to go to the board walk on Friday evening I snapped this photo of the reinforced concrete trestles being constructed at Ships Channel for the new causeway project. As you can see in this photo the exposed rebar at the tops of the unfinished trestles. The design parameters of the steel in tension is what gives the structure it's extreme strength. This same principle is used in the reinforced concrete grade beams we install below the block work of our custom homes that we build in Avalon, Stone Harbor, Sea Isle City and everywhere along the Jersey Shore.

In the next photo below, we can view the recently postioned reinforced concrete joists that create the deck structure that supports the structural concrete road surface. As you can see viewing the existing Ships Channel 9th Street Bridge, the new structure is approximately 30' higher than the existing structure at it's apex and creates almost 60' of clearance at high tide below the span for the access of tall vessels traveling the intra-coastal water way system. Ironically as you travel the water way only 2 miles south west of this location heading towards Sea Isle City "Dead man's cut" provides only minimal water depth and many a captain including myself have churned up large amounts of mud in search of that fine line to stay within the confines of the channel. The point being "If you have a great big ship that just makes it under the new bridge" "Watch out what lies just ahead Captain!!" or you might be the next "Sindia".

On that trip over the bridge we spotted Lauren Ebner at her family's speed boat ride "Stormin". We rode "Stormin" this summer and were very impressed by the awesome power and speed of that craft. Captain Jim Ebner informed us to hold on when he cranked out the 900 H.P. Yanmar turbo diesels and we soared past 60 M.P.H. within seconds. The boat cut through the water like a sword fish and was the highlight of our summer action activity.

After seeing Lauren from the bridge, we made a quick turn at the base of the 9th Street bridge and said "Hello" to Captain Jim, Miss Jill, and 1st mate Nathan. From there, Miss Lauren joined the Augustine's for a night of thrill rides at the Ocean City Boardwalk. Check us out getting ready to ride the Tilt O Whirl.

In this photo below one of our team members demonstrates his ability to weave cedar siding at a flared corner. These details in fine custom home workmanship are only available to the customer's of Augustine Builders through our services. These are the details our Seashore Modulars exhibit that separate our company from any other Modular Builders that call themselves "Custom Builders". There are no other Modular Builders we know of that have the combination of "Building Science" background and "On Site" construction knowledge. That is what makes us the automatic leader in Custom Modular Homes within Ocean City, Sea Isle City, Margate, Avalon, Stone Harbor, Wildwood and Cape May NJ. Please visit our website at http://www.augustinebuilders.com/ and give us a call about your next project. Have a great day at the Shore! Dave Augustine

Princess in Training

Here is a great photo of Natalie, our Princess in training. We recently enjoyed the Disney Princess Cruise and I can recommend this trip to anyone who wants to build memories that will last a lifetime. As a concerned father, I am always thinking of ways to spend quality time with my family. We often take trips to explore new territories, but also enjoy our life at the Jersey Shore.

I encourage anyone who has children to cherish your time with them and give them the things they need to survive. This includes a healthy diet, quality family time, treating them with respect and a positive attitude, and putting a roof over their heads. It is amazing how a child can thrive when given the right environment!

As an expert in modular homes and shore home construction, I am eager to share my expertise with others including current and future home owners. There are so many incredible solutions out there whether you are building a new home or updating an existing one. Please let me help you during this process. Call me at 609-926-6242 and let's talk!
